The company was founded by John Aynsley in 1775 in Longton, Staffordshire, and quickly became known for it's fine English bone china tableware and also commemorative & giftware pieces.

Aynsley was bought by Waterford in 1970 and later sold to Baleek Pottery in Ireland in 1997 before manufacturing was ceased
