Condition Guide

As the majority of the items that come to us are previously owned, we therefore carefully inspect and grade every single piece before offering it for sale, and once again before it is packed ready for dispatch, of which you can see further details of below


Please note, all manufacturers will have a tolerance in their sizing/weight due to manufacturing techniques and processes over time. This means all measurements shown on this site may have a small allowance in size/weight to take into account. If you would like precise measurements of a particular item, please just let us know

Tableware Items

Brand New -

Unused, first quality items bought directly from the manufacturer - may, or may not have any manufacturer packaging/labels depending on manufacturer

Brand New (Seconds) -

Unused items bought directly from the manufacturer. There may be a marginal fault to the finish, the decoration or the shape. The fault is not structural, i.e. each piece still functions as intended and is usable - may or may not have any manufacturer packaging/labels depending on manufacturer

Premium - 

New condition, but may have been previously owned. No signs of use, WITH factory/retailer stickers - however NOT guaranteed to be unused

Premium (Seconds) -

New condition, but may have been previously owned. No signs of use, WITH factory/retailer stickers - however NOT guaranteed to be unused. There may be a marginal fault to the finish, the decoration or the shape. The fault is not structural, i.e. each piece still functions as intended and is usable - may or may not have any manufacturer packaging/labels depending on manufacturer

Grade 1 - 

  • Minor wear/scratches from minimal use
  • Minor blemishes, e.g speck under glaze
  • Very minor gilt wear

Grade 2 -

  • General surface wear consistent with general use
  • Good factory marked seconds
  • Un-obvious glaze blemishes, i.e pitting/grit under glaze
  • Minor pattern faults
  • Minor age related clean surface crazing - giftware items ONLY

Crystal & Glassware

Due to the nature of how these products have been made, tool marks may occasionally be apparent, as may be small air bubbles, or very minor blemishes. Some items may vary in weight or thickness as well due to the varying production methods of the years, and therefore any sizes/weights given are approximate

Premium - 

  • New condition, no signs of use, WITH factory/retailer stickers - however NOT guaranteed to be unused

Grade 1 -

  • As new condition
  • Manufacturer marked (if Manufacturer normally marks products)
  • Very minor blemishes, e.g small bubble in item 

Grade 2 -

  • Minor surface wear
  • Good factory marked seconds/not etched
  • Very minor gilt wear (if applicable) if etched

Cutlery

Brand New -

Unused, first quality items bought directly from the manufacturer - may, or may not have any manufacturer packaging/labels depending on manufacturer

Premium - 

  • New condition, no signs of use, WITH factory/retailer stickers - however NOT guaranteed to be unused

Grade 1 -

  • Minor wear/scratches from minimal use
  • Very minor gilt wear (if applicable)

Grade 2 -

  • General surface wear
  • Un-obvious surface blemishes, e.g minor pitting or tarnishing

Collector Plates

Premium - 

  • New condition, in original packaging/box. No signs of use. With factory/retailer sticker, or with certificate - however NOT guaranteed to be unused

Grade 1 -

  • Not boxed, no factory/retailer stickers or certificates, looks as new

Grade 2 -

  • Minor wear/scratches from previous use
  • No certificate/original sticker

We do not sell items which are chipped or cracked, and we strive to accurately describe all of the items we offer. All pieces receive several condition checks before they leave us
