Colclough
Colclough China was founded in 1897 by Herbert Joseph Colclough and moved the Vale works in Longton in 1907 producing fine bone china. In 1913 King George V and Queen Mary visited the Vale works and they received a royal licence. 'Royal Vale' was then adopted as a trade name
In 1937 the company was renamed 'Colclough China Ltd', and was a mass producer of bone china tea-sets in a number of styles, and in 1953, Colclough became part of the Lawley Group. In 1955 the trading name was changed to 'Ridgway Potteries' until the merger with Royal Doulton in 1972
