Alessi was founded in Italy in 1921 by Giovanni Alessi. The company began with producing a wide range of tableware products in chromium, silver plated brass, nickel and later stainless steel, which were their main mediums to work with till the 1990's when they introduced other materials - plastics, glass and ceramics and porcelains. This, and their long running tendency to collaborate with external designers & architects opened up a whole new market for the new millennium
